Hamm Leads Team With All-New England Honors; Picks Up ACC Performer Of The Week

Hamm leads the charge...

The Eagles had mixed results over the weekend at the New England Cross Country Championships, running very well up front but struggling to find it’s way in the middle of the pack. The team finished 16th overall, unable to capitalize on two very strong performances from junior’s Jordan Hamm and Louis Serafini. The pair finished 14th (25:13) and 19th (25:20) overall, both having their best finish to date at these championships, with Hamm picking up a personal best time and All-New England Honors en route. The strength of Hamm’s performance also netted him ACC Performer Of The Week honors, a first for the junior.

Hamm has made exceptional progress this season, leading the team in the past two competitions. His personal best performance at Franklin Park comes on the heels of another personal best performance at Van Cortlandt Park three weeks ago, and posts his 2nd straight top-20 finish in tough competition.

Serafini, who led the Eagles at our season opener, has been running very well all season long. Showing remarkable consistency in his career as an Eagle, Serafini’s top-20 performance at the New England Championships is an improvement of 15 places from a year ago. Serafini and Hamm have been separated by just a few seconds of each other at the first three competitions this fall, and will look to help push each other to even greater heights as the season continues.

The team’s performance on Saturday is not indicative of the progress they have already made this fall, and we are certain that they will bounce back in the coming weeks as the ACC and NCAA Regional Championships approach. We have some real talent upfront and a young core group who will learn from each race they encounter.

One aspect of the weekend’s competition that really stood out, was the tremendous support the Eagles received from both parents and alumni. We are highly motivated by the visible increase in spectators at our competitions and the enthusiasm and support that is shown to the team from our Eagle fans past and present!

We look forward to digging deep in the coming weeks to tackle the challenges of the ACC and NCAA…
